A family fried a colourful Koi carp for their lunch even though the species are usually kept as pets – and can fetch up to £2,500.
But a family from Taiwan opted for the odd choice, sparking a debate across social media.
A picture of the colourful Koi defrosting in a plastic bowl as well as the video of one of the fish sizzling in a wok have been widely shared online, gaining more than 1 million views at the time of writing.
Hsieh who shared the video, said he was sent it by a friend whose parents decided to make lunch with “saltwater fish”.
But the more he looked at the so-called ocean catch the more he thought they looked like Koi – the colourful variety of the otherwise greyish-looking domesticated common carp (Cyprinus carpio).
Koi are not only relatively more costly, they are also generally only used as ornaments in ponds and gardens in East Asian culture, with the species particularly popular in Japanese culture.
A man was spotted casually lying in a Drone-suspended hammock which was captured on camera floating in the sky.
He was seen soaring over Khashuri, a town in the central part of Georgia, USA.
People can be heard in the footage exclaiming in awe, and laughing as the hammock sways from side to side.
The man appears to be quite relaxed as the Drone takes him higher into the clouds.
The friend of a jilted bride who became an internet sensation for selling her dress online has hit back at claims she ruined the marriage .
Kerry Wilkinson claimed her fiancé Dave Notman and close friend Nicole Martin engaged in sexual acts before the wedding .
She uploaded pictures of her wearing the dress and details about the alleged fling on Facebook.
But now Nicole, of Ballingry, Fife, has slammed the “ludicrous” claims, calling the post “crazy”.
She told The Scottish Sun: “I don’t even fancy David. I’ve been pals with him for years and nothing has ever between us.
“The claims are ludicrous,” she continued. “It’s hilarious, the post is crazy.
“She would make David stop speaking to us and delete us all of Facebook whenever they were together. It’s all stemmed from paranoia.”
But she added: “Good luck to her, I hope she sells her wedding dress.”
Kerry was thrilled when her wedding dress advert received so much attention.
She said: “The reaction’s been great. I’ve had marriage proposals and lots of people getting in touch offering support saying ‘Don’t worry’.
“And guys have been saying ‘We’re not all bad, some people are just sick’ so it did cheer me up.
“I cannot deny, it is a slight bit of revenge although the real reason I’m selling it is I need the money.
“I’m not normally one for posting private stuff on Facebook but I was just thinking ‘I need to get this wedding dress out of my life’. And I thought ‘The guy’s an a*** hole so I’ll warn all the girls in Dunfermline what he’s like’.
“I can’t believe what’s happened. Within an hour of my post going up I had 600 odd likes.”
She added: “I put it on for a wind-up. That’s just my sort of banter. I still haven’t sold the dress though, unfortunately.”
She said: “I know for a fact he’s had a thing with (my friend) because a friend of mine got sent PMs between the two of them.
“I think it’s quite clear what was going on.”
But Dave insists he has been smeared by Kerry, who he says is jealous that he’s started a relationship with new girlfriend Staci Young.
He says he broke up with Kerry before Christmas and fiercely denied ever having got romantic with the childhood friend.
Dave said: “The situation is that me and Kerry split up before Christmas. We’ve not really spoken since.
“It just got to a point where it wasn’t working so we called it a day before Christmas and as far as I was concerned that was it.
“I’d proposed and she’d bought the dress but we didn’t actually have a wedding date. We were kind of getting towards that stage but then it wasn’t to be.
“She was trying to make me jealous by sending a Snapchat pic of her and another guy in our bed because we used to have a flat together. I didn’t rise to that.
“And then I’ve started seeing another girl called Staci about a month ago, so we’ve put a couple of pictures up online because we’re happy together and I think that’s why she’s put this advert up.
“I was surprised to see her post and thinking ‘Where is she getting this from?’. I texted her asking ‘Where have you got this information because it’s wrong?’ but I didn’t even get a reply.
“I think it’s because I’m in a new relationship and she’s just jealous and trying to make this up to try and make Staci think I’m something I’m not.”
Dave added: “The idea of me and (the friend) is so untrue. I’ve known her since I was a wee boy and I have never, ever gone near her”.
“(She) and I will always be friends. One of my best friends was Kerry’s brother Ross who died four or five years ago and he was (she)’s boyfriend at the time. So I’ve always treated (she) like a sister since then and I look out for her.
“I stay with my mum and she’s known that I’ve been pals with (her) for years so she’s just laughing it off as well. She’s been telling me just to ignore it and not take the bait. If you didn’t laugh, you’d cry.”
The soldier says he finds it hilarious that Kerry’s wedding dress advert has gone viral.
But he said: “All my mates were taking screenshots of the post and sending me it and I was just having a wee giggle to myself. It didn’t even bother me. I was like ‘Whatever’.
“I hadn’t realised how big it had become. And because of what she’s said in it, it kind of makes me look like I’m a cheating b*****d. So I kind of want to clear my name. I just want to forget about her and move on with my life.”
An ex-Beauty Queen is reportedly suing United Airlines claiming she was ‘roughed up’ after being ‘handcuffed and forcibly removed’ on a flight.
Former Miss Venezuela Carmen Maria Montiel says she is taking legal action against the carrier over the way she was allegedly treated by staff during the incident, according to US media.
The New York Daily Post reports she claims ‘a flight attendant handcuffed her and enlisted two burly men to forcibly remove her in a dispute that escalated after she asked for a pillow’.
News of the lawsuit comes days after United passenger Dr David Dao was filmed being dragged off a flight last week after he refused to relinquish his seat – in footage which has gone viral and become a PR disaster.
Houston journalist and mother Ms. Montiel told the Post tody: “I can only imagine how he felt.
“I will forever be terrorised for what happened to me.”
Ms. Montiel got into a row with her husband Alex Lechin – a respiratory specialist who she has since divorced.
She claims she asked a flight attendant for a pillow only to be told the airline no longer provided them – and she complained.
Ms Montiel is said to have then laid her head on her husband’s shoulder to sleep – when her husband is alleged to have “slapped” her
Ms. Montiel – who insists she drank less than a glass and a half of wine – is then said to have refused to sign a written “warning” and changed seats.
She said: “I never felt so powerless in my life.
Ms. Montiel said: “It’s about the culture of United. They treat the customer as the enemy.
“They’ve done it so often, it’s gotten worse to the point of what happened with Mr. Dao.
“There is something terribly wrong here.”
Her lawsuit against United Airlines, filed in Houston district court, seeks unspecified damages for mental anguish, malicious prosecution and defamation, according to the Post.
One kind grandma who knitted her young grandson a nice big shark blanket found herself the laughing stock of the internet after the image was shared thousands of times – because it ended up looking a bit rude.
The photo of the lad lying on the sofa with the blanket wrapped around him like a mermaid tail was posted to Imgur.
But eagle-eyed users of the site quickly noticed there was something fishy about it.
The shark fin looks, well, you can make your own mind up.
Amused commenters quickly weighed in, with one person imagining the conversation going on: “As she’s knitting: ‘Hun does this look like a penis to you?’ ‘Ahh he’ll never notice.'”
Others speculated that she knew exactly what she was doing. One said: “Grandma’s no fool, she’s perfectly aware of what she’s done.”
Another added: “Isn’t the fin facing backwards anyway? Seems fishy.”
But everyone agreed that Grandma is “freaking awesome” and want her to make them a blanket, too.
A policeman was captured on camera tumbling over the handlebars of a bike while teaching children how to cycle safely down stairs.
While demonstrating to pupils at Prestwick Academy in South Ayrshire, Scotland, things didn’t go quite as planned for the officer, reports the Daily Record .
The footage shows the Police Scotland officer in full uniform and a helmet as he cycles across a short footbridge at the school.
As he approaches six concrete steps, he slows down and attempts to cycle down in a safety demonstration for children to show how it should be done.
The Twitter user who uploaded the video, known only as Derek, said: ” Police were staging a safe way for kids to go down the stairs on their bikes and the policeman failed miserably.
“He took it in good spirits. He was fine, just a bit embarrassed.”
Twitter users have been quick to react to the calamity online.
One follower wrote: “Just gets better with every watch.”
Another said: “Must have been gutting yourself. Surprised they never made you delete it.”
And one person added: “Like that bloody programme Scot Squad.”
An unprovoked attack on Ross Barkley will NOT deliver a knock out blow to his hopes of starring for Everton.
The England midfielder was the victim of a sucker punch during an incident in a Liverpool club in the early hours of Monday morning, when he was knocked to the floor by a stranger.
Yet despite reports to the contrary, the 23 year old Everton star was not knocked out, and did not suffer any concussion of any form – both of which would have sidelined him for the weekend showdown with Burnley.
Barkley returned to full training with the Blues on the Monday after the incident, and was examined by club medics, who must now follow strict guidelines relating to head injuries.
Everton officials have also made clear that the player WILL NOT be disciplined in any form for the incident, which occurred in a cocktail bar following the game, where Barkley had gone to wind down with friends.
The player himself revealed that he did not know the man who attacked him, through a statement issued by his legal team which confirmed the midfielder was the “innocent victim in this unprovoked assault made without warning by a stranger.”
The whole incident – thought to have occurred around 1am – was captured on CCTV, and was later uploaded onto the internet, with the tape going viral.
A real life ‘mutant turtle’ with two heads and six legs has become a ‘local celebrity’ after it was found in a Chinese pet shop.
Locals have been going to see the turtle after the store owner – named as Mr Wong – discovered the baby red-eared slider.
Mr Wong, who owns a flower and fish shop in China’s Shanxi Province, found the creature after a trip to the wholesale market where he’d bought a box of Brazilian turtles.
It’s thought he unknowingly also picked up the six-legged turtle, which is said to be just a few months old.
It is a long held belief, that working with animals and children – particularly when you are doing a live television broadcast – is a risk of disaster.
And a cheeky cat proved that even if you are a Mayor, nothing can stop an animal becoming centre stage.
The cat decided it wanted to be the star of the show when it interrupted a mayor’s live stream to the nation.
The black fluffy cat was watching Mayor of Riga Nils Usakovs as he took part in a live question and answer session on popular show Directed Question.
Mr Usakovs stopped talking to watch the brave moggy then when he tried to stroke it, it jumped down.
He said: “Anything can happen when cats boss around in the office.”
The city of Riga officially has two cats named Kuzya and Muris that are used to attract tourists, which were adopted from an animal shelter in 2011. Both of the cats live in the mayor’s office building.
There is usually a universal understanding that teens don’t want their parents embarrassing them in front of their school friends.
But one young woman has received a backlash online after sharing a message exchange with her mum on her birthday – and proving herself to be a bit ‘ungrateful’.
As her mum explained in the text message, she had arranged for a Snapchat filter to be set up around 17-year-old Jenna’s school so she and her friends could alter their photographs.
The filter, which anyone at the location could use, puts a sort of stamp across the bottom of pictures which reads “Jenna’s 17th Birthday. 03.30.17.”
Jenna replied: “Why would you do that?” and her mum responded to ask if she was mad, saying: “Sheesh, thought you would like it. I guess I just can’t do anything right. Whatever.”
This led to people being a bit angry with Jenna over how she responded to her mum, with one saying she should be ashamed for making her mother feel like that.
@jfluege “I guess I just can’t do anything right” .. shame on you for making your mom feel like that. Cut me her # so I can thank her myself
@MCnoffy @jfluege @nikbuh_ !!!!!!! I seriously don’t understAnd why she couldn’t. So ungrateful and unnecessary to make her mother feel that way.
