Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, usually known as Rutgers University or just Rutgers, is a coeducational public research university.

The university is the largest institution for higher education in New Jersey and the eighth-oldest college in the United States. Chartered in 1766 as all-male Queen’s College in New Brunswick, the school is also one of only two colonial colleges that later evolved into public universities.

Today, Rutgers University has three campuses and they are respectively located in New Brunswick, Newark and Camden. The university offers more than 100 undergraduate majors and more than 180 graduate programs across 175 academic departments, 29 degree-granting schools and colleges.
