Associate and Bachelor Admission Requirements

Want to enter an associate’s or bachelor’s online degree program of University of Phoenix? You need to meet a series of requirements. A prerequisite is that you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident or hold an approved, valid visa if you residing in the country. Plus, you must have an acceptable high school diploma. As alternatives, GED, California High School Proficiency Examination certificate or foreign secondary school equivalent are also accepted.

According to the degree program of your choice, you may need to meet work experience requirements or have access to an organizational environment to successfully accomplish program objectives and apply concepts you learn. To see whether your program has such a requirement, you can contact an enrollment advisor. The advisor can be available online (University of Phoenix’s website) or by call (866-766-0766).

Be noted that for applicants in some states, there may be more requirements in addition to the above-mentioned ones. For instance, applicants from Massachusetts and New Jersey must supply Health Insurance information. If you are a resident of Nevada or South Carolina, you are required to submit high school graduation documentation.

Foreign students can also qualify for an online associate’s or bachelor’s degree program at University of Phoenix. However, applicants without appropriate previous academic experience in an English language environment will be asked to pass some tests such as TOEFL and the Test of English as an International Communication (TOEIC).

In addition, U of P might evaluate and consider your prior coursework from regionally accredited or nationally accredited degree-granting institutions, or the credit earned through a national testing program like DANTES and CLEP for academic credit. This depends on your grades and scores. If international applicants have had professional training or served in the military, they are likely to be able to convert their training into academic credits.

Credit Transfer

As we know, credits are important for students to earn a degree and an online degree in particular, as these credits can help them earn a degree faster and cheaper. At University of Phoenix, online students are allowed to transfer credits they’ve already earned (in previous school or on the job) into college credit.

For U.S. transfer students, they may be able to use previous college credits in transfer for college credit at U of P. The university accepts college level courses taken at regionally or approved nationally accredited colleges and universities. If you have previously attended an educational institution outside America, you are also offered a variety of services to help you with admissions and transfer process.
